This book is amazing! I really love how C. Hunter answers some questions and also gives you knew ones. This book will keep you reading all night, so be warn! The relationship between Kylie and her friends makes me laugh. I think we all have had friend where we can be ourselves around, no matter what.

Lucas shows more of his feeling is this book, which I love. But the shocker comes from Derek, you will have to read to find out why!

This series is becoming my favorite. Hunter knows how to make all of her characters loveable. You have to read the other two to understand this book. Which I already highly recommend. So I hope you enjoy the Shadow Falls series I have!! View all 8 comments. Mar 31, Vanessa Booke rated it really liked it. Another fantastic read! Hunter does not disappoint with the next novel in the Shadow Falls series. After a long, but exciting wait we finally find out what Kylie is! I think my favorite part about this book is that we finally see some of the relationsh Another fantastic read!

I think my favorite part about this book is that we finally see some of the relationships from the previous novels develop and begin. I highly recommend picking up the previous novels to this series and reading them before Taken at Dusk. I was thrilled to see more of Lucas and I loved that his character really opened up in this book. No need to worry about Derek! Readers will be pleasantly suprised to find out about another surprise involving him.

Overall, I think this paranormal series is one of my favorite ones. Kylie is a great example of a real, complicated, yet intriguing character. Hunter does a fanastic job not only building primary, but also secondary characters throughout the novel. Definitely pick up Taken at Dusk! If you haven't started the Shadow Falls series you're missing out!

Oct 05, Darren Hagan-Loveridge rated it really liked it. Found it a lot easier to get into than the other 2 and I had no particular eye-rolling moments.

It's not ever gonna be a favourite series but it's an easy read which is exactly what I was in the mood for! Sep 07, Kathryn Ford rated it really liked it Shelves: urban-fantasy.

Well, I learnt a lot about kissing I especially needed to know this since I'm a 30 year old woman. But, seriously except for the accessive kissing this was a good book. It had a lot more mystery surrounding it. I also found myself chuckling quite a few times. And go hot werewolf! Jun 20, Jacob Combs rated it did not like it. Here are the positives:There was something driving the plot of the novel at least half the time. The disappearance of Kylie's grandparents was forgotten, but there was the occasional visit from Red and the threat of things trying to kill her.

When it came up that he Taken at Dusk was terrible from beginning to end just like its predecessors. When it came up that her boyfriend might be controlling her, Kylie demonstrated the presence and use of. Then the entire book passed by without a comment. Well, that was the praise. This was just as badly written, badly plotted, and easily poked at as the other two books.

From panties on fire to so much soda that it drowns an Italian fish. Some of the unintentionally hilarious lines in this book can't be made up. We finally find out what Kylie is! Are you ready? A chameleon. Came right out of the book. The way I read it, she can transform into whatever supernatural being she wants, with their brain pattern and powers. So she's not a real chameleon. She's just your average Mary Sue in a sea of girls coming out of Hogwart's sorta-secret Sparklypoo house.

Characterization is still poor. Now that I have saved you about a 1, pages of reading just to find out what she is, let's move on, shall we. I'm not sure I've seen them do much campy stuff at this camp. You've got your basics of getting up and going to bed, Campmate Hour, the occasional campfire, and eating meals.

Does my mind skip over that Kylie participating in activities or exercises meant to foster better relationships between the different groups of supernaturals? The most boring bs ever! The book tends to make a lot of funny word choices. I mean borderline problematic.

Fredericka, the werewolf who loves Lucas and hates Kylie, is called a she-wolf, reducing her from a person to an animal. I've seen multiple times where Kylie referred to her boy toys as "sexy as sin" or something along those lines. Why do you want to compare boys to sins, like really.

There appears to be a quota for unfortunate implications in this series because there's a new one every book. This time, we have a character, one of Kylie's love interests, used to have sex with. She is as sweet as can be and never treats Kylie or her friends badly, but Della calls her a slut and the other girls don't exactly object. When the three of them decided to befriend the character, I felt sorry for her I really did.

She deserves better than people who call her names behind her back. I really thought the series grew out of the slut shaming, but apparently now. So they're friends, her interest in Derek is no more, and was caught in Kylie the Mary Sue's trap. Now she's dead. Yeah, calling a female character a slut for having sex with one of Kylie's love interests when Kylie was hardly speaking to him anymore, and then killing her off later.

That's a bitch move. Then we have Kylie, who is a pretty terrible person, being compared to Mother Teresa multiple times with narrative support of characters from all different perspectives complimenting her. What a way to insult the legacy of Mother Teresa: compare her to a judgmental teenager who sees other girls as rivals, slut shames rampantly, and is overall a narrow-minded bucket of vomit.

Mother Teresa was not perfect, but she's far above Kylie's level. I think I might not read the next book, Whispers at Moonrise. This is my cat-scratch series and also something terrible that makes me appreciate the good books more, but now it's showing signs of improvement. It was only a baby step forward, but that's not good enough. When you follow a horrible series solely because it's horrible, why keep following it when it starts to improve? Same old shtick here: fans will love it, those who don't won't, etc.

At least there was some improvement. Maybe that will make me stay away next time. XD I devoured this book in about a day metaphorically of course since it's not really cheese. I would of fished it sooner if it wasn't for something called school Am I the only one who finds it ironic that teachers hate it when you're reading a book in class?

Well anyhow And in book numeral dos we have the focus on guy number one Derek and guy number two Lucas is just off in the sidelines. In book 3 we have the focus on Lucas while we don't here very much of Derek. I wonder how book 4 will play out Then we have the ghost. I figured that the ghost was actually Kylie's grandmother Not too long after the whole ghost was pregnant revelation the lightbulb went DING! I know some of you may think i'm lying about this but I am being entirely truthful.

Although I did not guess about the whole real grandparents visiting but I should get some points for the grandma thing. I did also guess about the whole grandma getting killed by testing but that was an easy one. I kinda wanted to slap Kylie for the fact that she didn't figure it out right away.

Now with the identity thing I understand that chameleon is just a name but She better not be an actual lizard! That would just be creepy on many levels! I don't think shes really a lizard but still! And by the way does the picture of her like the face on the 1st book remind you of a lizard. It does to me but the may be because of the whole chameleon thing I didn't notice it until after I saw 'lizard'in the book. And the ending!

Okay maybe not that much but the point is I read the excerpt at the back at the book and it doesn't say anything! Jun 15, Jessica rated it it was amazing Shelves: series , favorites , april , kindle-books-i-own. Just when I don't think her books can get any better they do! I love this little world and characters she has created is pretty much amazing! Ever since the first book I cannot stop thinking about these characters, even long after I'm done reading each of the books.

I wish I had her skills. She takes on quite the roller coaster ride in this book. With the ghost that is warning Kylie that one lives I don't know how C. With the ghost that is warning Kylie that one lives and one dies, to the FRU's 'tests', to the mystery behind who keeps saving her, leaves you with a very exciting read! It was so nice to finally get some answers. Not as much as I would have liked, but hey answers are answers.

I'll take any at this point, whether their jaw dropping or not. You see a lot more in the relationship department in this book then you do in the firs two. I'm so glad that Perry and Miranda are finally starting to pull it together. It's about time that's all I've gotta say, they were driving me crazy!

Kylie's still got her huge dilemma trying to choose between Derek and Lucas. Even though it seems that she's chosen Lucas, Derek's little confession at the end makes me think things are going to be quite interesting in the next book. Personally I'm rooting for Derek.

He such an amazing guy. I think Kylie would be lucky to have him. Lucas is good too, but he's just a little too controlling for my taste. And, of course, how could I forget Burnett and Holiday! I wish we could have had a little more interaction with them like you do in the second book, but Really makes up for it at the end!

And what is with the ending?! What does it mean!!!! I need to know now!!!! I CAN'T wait for the next book! And it's still in the writing process! How am I going to get through this wait?! I guess I'm just going to have to read all the books over and over again just to get me through it.

And it's not just romance troubling Kylie. An amnesia-stricken ghost is haunting her, delivering the frightful warning, someone lives and someone dies. As Kylie races to unravel the mystery and protect those she loves, she finally unlocks the truth about her supernatural identity, which is far different—and more astonishing—than she ever imagined.
