Great book, It Had to Be You pdf is enough to raise the goose bumps alone. Add a review Your Rating: Your Comment:. I loved learning more about the actions, consequences, and feelings of the characters from my favorite television show. I highly, highly recommend this book to anyone who loves the Gossip Girl series like I do. Jun 19, Emily rated it it was ok.
This prequel takes us back before Vanessa moves to New York and shaves her head, before Jenny had boobs, before Dan started smoking and became a poet, and, most importantly, before Nate, Serena and Blair became the most messed up love triangle ever. In addition to how all those things began, the three watch Breakfast at Tiffany's for the first time, Blair begins her bout with bulimia, Blair's dad comes out of the closet, and Serena decides to go to boarding school. It was a little obvious to any This prequel takes us back before Vanessa moves to New York and shaves her head, before Jenny had boobs, before Dan started smoking and became a poet, and, most importantly, before Nate, Serena and Blair became the most messed up love triangle ever.
It was a little obvious to anyone who's read even one other Gossip Girl book before that those things were going to happen. I wish that I could say that the interesting part was how they happened, but I really didn't find it all that interesting. I guess maybe I've read too many of these all in a row, but I've gotten to the point where I'm just tired of all of them, and glad the series is over so I can read more edifying books.
May 06, Jennifer Wardrip rated it really liked it Shelves: trt-posted-reviews. Why Serena left, what attracted Nate to Blair, and every detail about our favorite rich kids are told. And nothing is left to the imagination. How did Serena and Nate end up hooking up before Blair and Nate? Is Vanessa really in love with Dan?
What other dirty little deeds has Chuck participated in? Is Jenny really as innocent as she seems? Why does Blair seem so psycho? All of your burning questions are answered! I really liked this book but it wasn't one in the series that I got addicted to. It was a good end to the series, though, even if I am disappointed to see it go.
Oct 28, Brittni rated it liked it Shelves: teen , contemporary. I read this after finishing the series, which may have been a bad idea, but I don't think it was out when I first started this series. The prequel just delves deeper into the characters' lives before the first book started, but the subsequent books explained the important parts.
The prequel was a bit less interesting because of that; I knew what was going to happen. Not so fun, but still likeable. Also, I'm a bit annoyed at the discrepancy with Serena's character.
It takes till the second-to-last I read this after finishing the series, which may have been a bad idea, but I don't think it was out when I first started this series.
It takes till the second-to-last book for Serena to have a revelation that she loved Nate all along, but in this prequel, she knows this from the start. Wut wut? Dec 06, Madeleine Voss rated it it was amazing Recommends it for: children in middle school. Shelves: eng This book was not what I expected. I had watched the tv show before and expected the book to be the same as the movie, but what I read was a treat that the show never explains and the book answered so many questions.
If I were to use this book as a learning tool in school I would recommend this book to middle schoolers and high schoolers. It was a delightful read. I regret not getting into this series when I was younger.
This book was so good. I think you're supposed to read it after the series but I didn't want to do that. I read it last night. I saw the series at school and I was like this looks good! This is the book series before the show Gossip girls. Okay, so an overview of the book. While I was reading it I was very into and emotionally. I remember times of excitement and tim This book was so good. I remember times of excitement and times of anger. There was a relationship with 1 guy and 2 girls that was romantic.
I love romance but that really bothered me. They were both physically involved with him at the same time. It's really gross and highly disturbing. Like all 3 of them would be in bed together. I love the drama though of Nate trying to choose what girl.
But instead of putting the name in, they put the letters. Like S - Serena. N - Nate, etc. They're all in HS. So characters: Nate. Then Vennessa who likes Dan. Jenny is spending her time trying to make her boobs bigger LOL. I was so pissed. I wanted Serena with Nate not Blair with him. Blair keeps saying she's not ready for sex but it's so annoying! Nate should've just gotten with Serena she was ready for sex. I was so excited! Anyway this bok was super good!
Excited about the rest of the series. I usually don't write this long of review but I really liked this book Everything we need to know that leads up to the the first Gossip Girl book, is in this book.
Serena, Blair and Nate are the best of friends. But Serena starts to realize that she's loved Nate all along and is trying to figure out a way to tell him and Blair, but Blair's family life is crumbling. Her parents are separating and we see the reason behind what started her eating disorder.
Serena doesn't want to bring any more tragedy to Blair's life and doesn't tell Blair that her and Nate belong tog Everything we need to know that leads up to the the first Gossip Girl book, is in this book.
Serena doesn't want to bring any more tragedy to Blair's life and doesn't tell Blair that her and Nate belong together. Nate thinks that he loves Serena too, but when he's kissing Blair, he loves her as well. Who will he choose?
We see Dan's first work of poetry and his addiction to smoking. Jenny buys breast enhancement supplements online and realizes that they may have been a huge mistake. Vanessa didn't always have a shaved head, in fact, her hair was coveted by many.
But she bravely shaves it off and we see how her and Dan meet and form a beautiful friendship. This prequel was entertaining but WAY too long. There are some plot holes in the story line. I'm pretty sure in the first book, it's mentioned that Chuck has a brother I could be wrong but in this one, it is mentioned that he is an only child. We still never found out how Serena and Georgina know each other.
I totally forgot about Georgina's character until I was reading the skiing chapters and I remembered her from one of the previous books. Blair and Serena's friendship seemed really strong in this book but not as strong through the rest of the series. We also see how Nate's smoking addiction got started.
And we still don't know who Gossip Girl is! I still have one more book to read, but I'm still overall really disappointed in this series. I wanted to see manipulation from Blair. I wanted to see Blair and Serena's friendship strong like it sometimes is in the show. I much prefer the show to the book series.
Stay tuned for one more book review to come! I liked this quite a bit less than the first book, to which this one is a prequel. The problem may well be that since reading the former, my wife managed to convince me to watch the show with her. On that, while I'm on the topic, let me just say that I don't like that I like the show, but alas, I kind of do like it - in fits and starts anyway. It's bloody addictive, at the very least.
Having, then, a preconception this time about the major characters, and picturing them as Blake Lively, Leighton I liked this quite a bit less than the first book, to which this one is a prequel.
